Hi guys,

Thanks for posting.

The easy part is reading this forum and thinking about what it is you want to do. The hard part is actually letting go and "playing" golf when you get to the golf course.

The harder part is letting go, trying less and trusting your automatic game after a few bad shots. Poor golf is a sign to STOP! Relax, and stop trying so bloody hard. This takes commitment and "courage under fie'.

I'll talk to you soon,

Thanks Steady,
Your spot on !! That's what I was so disappointed with from Sunday's game, I lost the plot because of the way I was playing and my whole auto routine went out the window.I'm better than that and irrespective of how I'm hitting them I need to stick with my routine-just committing to a shot , count and hit the bloody ball!!! Don't worry about the result!

In response to Ray C. Stick with it. You will have some scars but i'ts worth it. You'll eventually find your game. Not mine, not Camerons but your game with your swing. That's what is so exciting about automatic golf. You give yourself the best chance to play at your optimum all the time. You don't suddenly wake up and wonder "Were did my swing go?"
I hope this helps, the reason being is I become despondent, unhappy and was really hating the game of golf. The reasons being was that I was trying too hard, thinking that I had to post good scores to prove that autogolf works. What I found is my true enjoyment of the game lies in not shooting low numbers but having fun while playing. This means not being distracted by my score swing or slice/hook. I have become aware what it takes to play auto golf. When you get to that point your enjoyment of the game sky rockets. In many ways it is what most golfers are realy seraching for. Not building a great swing cause if that's the case ask Jim Furyk. He'll say his swing has won him millions of dollars. Go figure.
Cheers Steady

Hello Tribers,
I had a great opportunity a couple of weeks ago to spend some time on the golf course with Cameron to further learn first hand implementing auto golf into my game. What I walked away with I haven't been able to learn in the 30 years I've been playing the game of golf!!!. The one thing that stands out is he doesn't try to recreate the wheel. Just work with what you have and try and bring out your natural swing.
My game currently is at its absolute worst but with the time I spent with Cameron I have a realistic road map to over time improve my game and get to where I want to be!!
I have to keep reminding myself that I've been swinging the club this way for 30 years so to implement change won't happen overnight. But slowly but surely I know with auto golf I can eventually get there!
The one major problem I have with my game is a vicious pull hook which is quite game destroying.
Had a game on Sunday and it was a real battle to keep the ball on the fairway.
But the journey is long and I'm committed to see it out and I can see from the other tribers that the results will eventually come ! You only get back what you put in!!!
Maybe the Swing Trainer may help me improve my swing and eliminate that hook?

Regards,
Ray C

@Grayden
great summary. I liked the last 3 things shoemaker points out...."a feeling of freedom, a sense of peace and the ability to teach themselves as they go along." That's reason why I play. Enjoyment.
Personally Ive gone away from chasing a low handicap. That's ego. I now play for pleasure. Sure I still play to my best when playing in a comp don't get em wrong I still want to the best I can , however bringing my handicap down isn't a priority. Making sure I automate my game is . Why because that is the key to playing outstanding golf. And No I want pull the handbrake on the 17th or 18th.
Great post.

I hope people start contributing to this forum because if we want it to continue we've got to support it. Personally I think its a privilege to be part of it. I've seen, heard and read most of it over 30 years of golf and this is something very special. Support it. Buy a swing trainer. I did and can highly recommend it. It improves your swing without you even having to think!

On a personal note I re-committed to Cameron's process last weekend after realizing that I was starting to drift away from it in certain aspects. The results were immediate and very pleasing. And its not just the physical improvement I noticed. There was also a strong feeling of calm and control. Its a bit hard to describe but its very real. In fact this time I went one step further with the process and committed to something that Cameron alludes to - but doesn't insist on - and that is NOT LOOKING UP AT THE TARGET AT ALL AFTER YOU'RE OVER THE BALL -- just going ahead and hitting it. Sounds spooky and feels spooky at first but wow, what a feeling. Strangely liberating. Highly recommend it.

Fred Shoemaker says that ultimately every golfer wants 3 things: a feeling of freedom, a sense of peace and the ability to teach themselves as they go along. All three of these escaped me for the last 30 years but I definitely experience all three when I play the Cameron way.
