Hi...

The Cobra woods are really nice! The graphite shafts give me that little bit of extra distance.

Still struggling with my driver though....starts off straight then veers off to the right. Looking to get 230-240 yards with my driver, 200-210 with the 3 wood.

At the moment i'm getting around 200-210 with my driver and 190-200 with my 3 wood.

Hi Karl,

I can't really comment. You have to try them and if you like keep them. It doesn't seem like to much coin to part with - so maybe you have nothing to lose.

I'm going to be posting more on clubs shortly. I have some ideas on club making/matching which you might find interesting.

Graphite shafts usually result in more distance - but results can vary.

How far do you hit at the moment and what sort of distance are you after?

Cheers,

Cameron

Greetings!

What are your thoughts on the King Cobra SZ 3 and 5 woods? I have been offered both clubs for £25 each which I am told is a real bargain. They both have regular graphite shafts. I currently use steel shafts and was wondering if graphite ones would give me any extra distance.

Thanx in advance.

Greetings Cameron,

Great advice on the driving. Last Thursday my motto to myself was "don't worry about it, just hit it!" and it worked a treat. Was hitting it straighter and further which helped me shoot my 2nd best score at my local club.

Thanks again!

Hey Cameron,

Thanks so much for the speedy reply. I'm playing again on Thursday, and i'll certainly put your thoughts to the test....can't wait!

I usually play with two friends and we are all high handicappers (me 26, other two 26 and 25), and we are very competitive! The one thing we all suffer from is using our drivers. The ball starts off well enough, but then starts to go right. I'm pretty sure its down to side spin.....

The only way i can hit a straight drive is by doing a half swing and powering through. But I lose alot of distance. We are starting a mini competition between ourselves soon, and any edge i can get would be very much appreciated.....wink wink!

Hey Karl,

Thanks for the message and welcome aboard!

I tried a 64 degree for a while but struggled a bit with it. I couldn't adjust to it and stopped using it. Mind you it was a home made job that wasn't that well balanced.

The shanks! Not good Karl but can be fixed. Firstly, are you opening the clubface too much? If you are there isn't a lot of club face to work with. The 64 degrees should give you all the loft you need.

Secondly, I find that most people who start shanking get scared. The forget to commit to the job at hand and steer the ball rather than hitting it. It can be hard after a few bad ones but you've got to step right up there and pull the trigger. Takes some courage but well worth it.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Cameron

Greetings.

Just joined your fantastic blog....keep up the good work! A friend recently bought me a 64 degree lob wedge, and at first i could use it pretty well. But all of a sudden, I can't use it for toffee!! As I strike the ball, it pings off drastically to the right. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance.
