Hi Cam
I didn’t read this post until yesterday and how poignant it was because having played in an ambrose (relaxing stuff)I was guilty on a few occasions of pulling the wrong club and equally played the wrong shot.But I am glad to say I did not let this daunt me in anyway and continued to play auto golf as best as I could with varying results (mainly good).So I say to all of you that may be struggling just a tad continue to play auto because in due time we will get there.

If I’m brutally honest it took me about two years to see the full benefit of the automatic mindset. Especially the putting. I was an awful yipper and it took this time to gain trust. And auto golf doesn’t guarantee perfect golf – not at all – you will still have some poor rounds. But (and this is key) you have a system for dealing with the obstacles thrown your way.

This didn’t mean it was all hopeless in this time. I saw improvements and this kept me motivated.

Once the light goes off (and it will) you’ll experience a level of play that makes the game far easier.

This blog and golf website cuts the learning time down further because you’re learning from the experience of others (like Steady!).

Hi Ray C,
I’m glad that you and others are starting to see the benfit of playing auto golf. Tony Lucas is realy starting to come along which is great to see. The reason being it takes along time to stop analysing, worrying about technique and score and actualy playing real golf.
It took me 2 years to get it down pat.It tales patience and a differnt mind set to play auto golf. But I will say this that it is the future of golf teaching/learning. It works, less stress and more fun and as I have said before isn’t that the the real reason why we play in the first place. Glad to be of help.

The hidden benefit of automatic golf is that your golf swing will still improve in time. You get a little better each time you play. This is more realistic and makes golf enjoyable. Far better than the quick fix mindset.

Hello Steady,
I couldn’t agree more!!!! This is why I’m so enthusiastic about auto golf, it takes away alot of the technical jibberish about golf. It takes us back to trying to enjoy the game and at the same time doing your utmost to get around the course in the minimal amount of shots and hopefully the least amount of trouble!!
I spent so many years going to pros trying to get some assistance with this? Only to be told how many problems you have with your golf swing? Your mind then spends so much time on trying to digest mentally all of your swing problems instead of using the swing you have with a bit of help to get around the course!!!
I understand there is always room for improvement in your golf swing but there has to be room for enjoyment and fun! Have enjoyed reading your posts.

Hi Cam,
I feel this is the essence of golf. The reason being is that you play with confidence not ego. This allows the auto process to take over and you play 100% better. Instead of trying to build a great swing we should be taught about How to play, what club to use, what shot to play, get around the course in the least strokes as possible and build a score. Not be so focused on mechanics and fixing all the time.
