A Natural Athlete

Roger Federer is an automatic and natural athlete. Automatic allows for remarkable things to happen. This could be the most remarkable point played in tennis.

Try doing this while worried about your wrist position or your back swing. Watch the video below.

Hi Cam,
spot on. It just goes to show what is possible when playing by reaction. Did you notice how he run down the shot, played it then realised what he had done.

@ Steady: Exactly! If the best player in the world can get excited – imagine what us mere mortals can experience when we let go and play more naturally?

Cam and steady
Talking about the above it is not the only time he has done it because I have seen him do it before but not to win such a big point though. One wonders is it something he has practiced or is it plain instinctive either way he’s a bloody freak.

@Lukey: Absolutely he has practiced this shot (and probably plenty of others we haven’t seen). I’m certain he is reacting and playing instinctively in this situation.

I heard an interview with him once and he was bemused at how well he played (I paraphrase here). “I just play”, “I don’t know what I’m doing”.

Cheers,

Cameron
